MR Safety
The Cleveland Clinic School of Diagnostic Imaging has a safety screening protocol for students having potential access to the magnetic resonance environment. This assures that students are appropriately screened for magnetic wave and radiofrequency hazards.
Prior to starting the clinical experience students are taught MR safety practices. They view an MRI training video given by Dr. Frank Shellock. The students then complete an MR screening form which is reviewed by the MRI Program Coordinator. If there are any questions or concerns regarding their safety due to potential dangers of implants or foreign bodies, the program medical advisor will review their case and make a determination of their ability to safely participate in the MR environment.
