Application Review Process

The faculty application review process with CCLCM and CWRU is as follows:
 

• Clinical assistant professor (or adjunct) applications and clinical instructor applications are reviewed by the CCLCM Faculty Affairs Office before being sent to CWRU for review by the CWRU Faculty Affairs Office (for the SOM Dean). The process can take between one and two months. There is no due date for submissions.

• Clinical associate professor and clinical professor (and adjunct) applications are reviewed by the CCLCM Faculty Affairs Office and CCLCM Committee on Appointments and Promotions (CAP) before being sent to CWRU, to be reviewed by the CWRU Faculty Affairs Office. The process can take between three and six months. There is no due date for submissions.

• Assistant professor applications are reviewed by the CCLCM Faculty Affairs Office and CCLCM Committee on Appointments and Promotions –Junior (JCAP) before being sent to CWRU to be reviewed by the CWRU Faculty Affairs Office and provost. Final approval is granted by the CWRU Board of Trustees (BOT). The process can take from six to nine months. There is no due date for submissions.

• Associate professor and professor applications are reviewed by the CCLCM Faculty Affairs Office; CAP; CWRU Faculty Affairs Office; Committee on Appointments, Promotions, and Tenure (CAPT) at CWRU; Steering Committee of Faculty Council at CWRU; provost and president. Final approval is granted by the BOT. The process can take 12 to 14 months on average. There is no due date for submissions.

• Promotions in the regular track to associate professor or to professor are reviewed by the CCLCM Faculty Affairs Office, CAP, CWRU Faculty Affairs Office, CAPT, Steering Committee, provost and president. Final approval is granted by the BOT. Promotion applications for CCLCM are due by Jan. 31 each year, and the entire process is not completed until the following July 1 or later.

• Promotions in the clinical track (or adjunct) and emeritus applications are reviewed by the CCLCM Faculty Affairs Office year-round but only reviewed by the CWRU Faculty Affairs Office twice a year. Applications are due to CCLCM by Feb. 1 (to become effective July 1) and Sept. 1 (to become effective Jan. 1) each year.

• Transfer applications are reviewed by the CCLCM Faculty Affairs Office before being sent to CWRU to be reviewed by the CWRU Faculty Affairs Office. The process can take between two and three months. There is no due date for submissions.
