Malpractice Coverage for Volunteers
Dear Colleagues,
The Cleveland Clinic has always been proud of it’s tradition of volunteerism in our local communities and throughout the world. We applaud and encourage these acts of kindness. They speak to our humanity and mission of social responsibility.
In this spirit, we are writing to inform you that the Clinic will consider extending malpractice coverage to volunteers on a case-by-case basis, in those instances where it is not provided by the volunteer program itself. Where it is provided but not adequate, the Clinic will consider functioning as a secondary insurer. Please be aware that for the Clinic to consider assumption of such responsibility, it is required for you to notify the Office of Professional Staff Affairs (Robert Coulton, at x43280, or coultor@ccf.org) of the nature of your volunteer function(s).
Please also see the attached form and guidelines for coverage.
Thank you for all that you are doing for those in need here and around the world.
